Famous ceramist Ugo Zaccagnini (Pistoia Italy, 1868-1937) studied at the Scuola di Disegno Industriale in Siesto Fiorentino. Until 1891 he worked as a sculptor and modeler in the Richard-Ginori ceramics factory in Sesto Fiorentino. After that, in 1896, he started a business with Egisto Fantechi, Luigi Ceccherini, Augusto Fantini, Francesco Grassi, Paolo Banchelli, and Giuseppe Conti. The business was called S.I.F.M.A. and located in Florence. In 1905 he opened his own factory under the name ‘Ugo Zaccagnini e Figli’ with headquarters in Florence, producing ceramics in the traditional and the Liberty style.
