Jozef De Coene

Jozef De Coene  followed classes at Académie Royale des Beaux-Arts in Brussels, where he became friends with architect Jean-Baptiste Death. He came in contact with the ideas of Henry Van de Velde, John Ruskin and William Morris.
In 1921 he went on study trip to the United States. On his return he began series production of furniture in laminated wood and De Coene Freres went to take part in international exhibitions: Milan, Paris, Roubaix and Brussels. The innovative furniture from his workshops received prestigious awards and medals.
